Seats for each session and screening will not be held for individuals. We encourage everyone to lineup for each block and attendees will be admitted on a first-come basis until capacity is reached.

Minnesota composers and musicians from the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra will demonstrate music techniques for narrative, animation, and documentary scoring. Learn how a composer chooses different orchestral colors and musical styles to elevate a scene. Hosted by composer Charlie McCarron of Film Score Fest, and featuring the composer brothers Marty, Karl, and Will Brueggemann, creators of the UnderScore Podcast.

Charlie McCarron breaks down his method for creating the sound of the STARZ documentary Silicone Soul, by Melody Gilbert.

Marty Brueggemann talks about scoring for orchestra in the animated short film “My Favorite Forehead,” by John Akre.

Karl and Will Brueggemann discuss the composer/orchestrator relationship used in the narrative short film “Love at First Fight,” by Kristin & Justin Schaack.

Q&A with the composers and conductor Kurt Hattenberger.
